Manufacturing Challenges Don’t End at Commissioning

Getting your machine up and running at your facility is only the beginning. As production demands evolve, new challenges emerge. Equipment requires maintenance, operators and engineers need training, and new opportunities require enhanced capabilities and processes.

To address these challenges, Delta ModTech takes a comprehensive lifecycle approach, providing ongoing expertise, support, and resources to help you get the most from your equipment investment.

Supporting Your Manufacturing Approach Across Five Key Areas

Delta ModTech’s Lifecycle Services are organized around five areas that support your organization from installation through daily operation.

Machine Support

Problem: Downtime that stalls production and strains delivery commitments.

Delta’s Solution: Direct access to the engineers who know your machine.

98% of machine-down issues are resolved remotely, with an average resolution time of 0.2 days.

Delta ModTech’s Machine Support team includes electrical controls engineers, mechanical engineers, electro-mechanical technicians, and a dedicated Parts & Service team, many of whom helped design or commission the equipment in the first place. Customers never route through a call center or automated system.

We offer two service paths depending on the need:

  • Planned/Scheduled Service: proactive visits and maintenance built around your production calendar
  • Emergency/Down Service: rapid response when a machine is unexpectedly down

For customers in Europe, our service partnerships extend that same standard of on-site support and installation locally.

Machine Upgrades

Problem: Uncertainty about whether to upgrade existing equipment or invest in something new.

Delta’s Solution: Extend the value of your equipment investment without replacing your machine.

Delta ModTech’s backward and forward compatible, modular architecture allows customers to add capabilities onto existing platforms rather than purchasing new equipment. Depending on your process, that can include:

  • Add laser converting to an existing platform
  • Add vision inspection
  • Expand web converting capability
  • Upgrade controls and automation

Upgrade opportunities are frequently identified during PerformanceCare visits (see Service Plans below), where a Delta expert evaluates your equipment against your current production goals and recommends the right path: upgrade, retrofit, or replace.

Training Programs

Problem: Operators and engineers who weren’t part of the original install need to get up to speed.

Delta’s Solution: Formal training built for the people actually running your machines.

Delta ModTech offers in-person Advanced Training Courses at our facility, combining classroom instruction with hands-on “Machine Time” on our production floor:

  • Converting, For Operators: a two-day course covering the core knowledge and skills to run a Delta ModTech machine, including a full walkthrough of die cutting and sheeting setup, troubleshooting, and adjustments.
  • Converting, For Engineers: a three-day course for process engineers, mechanical/electrical engineers, and advanced operators, covering everything in the Operator course plus advanced topics like lasers, vision, reject systems, and quick changeover.

For teams that need something more specific, Delta ModTech also builds Custom or On-Site Training programs: curriculum designed around your actual production needs, delivered at your facility on your machines.

Service Plans

Problem: Service plans and support models that don’t match how the plant actually operates: too rigid, too reactive, or too slow.

Delta’s Solution: Two ways to build service into how you already operate.

  • PerformanceCare is a proactive service program built around two onsite visits per year from a Delta ModTech expert. Each visit’s focus is customizable, including process optimization, downtime reduction, manufacturing with tighter tolerances, operator/engineer/maintenance training, or a full machine health inspection.
  • Delta Advantage is a flexible, pre-purchased service contract that removes the administrative delay from day-to-day support. Hours never expire, labor rates are locked in, and there’s no need for a new purchase order every time you need help.

Process Development

Reduce Risk Before Production Begins

Problem: Machines and processes that need to evolve as products, materials, or volumes change.

Delta’s Solution: In-house resources that let you prove out a process before you commit to production.

Delta ModTech offers:

  • In-House R&D:
    • Process Development / Optimization
    • Scale-up Support
    • Material Evaluation
    • Feasibility Studies
    • Prototyping
    • Coating trials

Validation & Qualification Support

Problem: Equipment qualification and validation requirements can delay production and introduce additional implementation risks.

Delta’s Solution: Documentation, testing, and technical expertise to help streamline the validation process.

Delta ModTech works with your team to support equipment qualification and validation requirements. We’ll provide documentation, testing, and technical guidance tailored to your project.

Lifecycle Services Success Stories

Doubled Production Speed With Zero Quality Loss

During an on-site visit, a Delta Technician worked with the customer’s operations team to increase tamp speed from 250 ppm to 500 ppm, with no effect on part tolerance or quality. Setup time and scrap each dropped 5%, and added teach positions and hot keys were added to reduce day-to-day operator effort.

$60,000 in Material Loss Avoided in One Week

During a scheduled on-site visit, a Delta Technician traced recurring machine stoppages to their root cause. A remote software fix and process adjustment stabilized the line, avoiding $60,000 in coating slurry loss within a week and reducing unplanned downtime going forward.

ROI in Three Production Setups

An on-site visit from a Delta Technician uncovered sensor and idler mounting issues that were forcing operators to manually adjust registration between every setup. After Delta corrected the issues and trained operators on proper recipe usage, the customer eliminated those manual adjustments, recovering the cost of the visit within three production setups.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you help us determine whether we need a new machine or an upgrade?

Yes. Delta ModTech evaluates both retrofit and replacement options and can recommend modular additions to existing equipment rather than a full replacement.

What kind of support do you provide after installation?

Customers get direct access to our service and applications teams for troubleshooting, process guidance, operator training, upgrades, and ongoing optimization – not just repair.

How quickly can issues be resolved?

Delta ModTech resolves 98% of machine-down issues remotely, with an average resolution time of 0.2 days.

What’s the difference between PerformanceCare and Delta Advantage?

PerformanceCare is a scheduled program built around two onsite visits per year with a customizable focus. Delta Advantage is a flexible, pre-purchased hours contract for day-to-day support and training, with no expiration and no new purchase orders required.

Do you offer training for teams that weren’t part of the original installation?

Yes. Advanced Training Courses (Operator and Engineer tracks) are available at our facility, and custom or on-site training can be built around your team’s specific needs.
